Designed to operate in the recently opened spectrum of 71-76 GHz and 81-86 GHz, our Broadband WiFi antennas, based on our CTS Antenna Technology, support fiber-like speeds without the added expense and time of digging up city streets. According to Cisco System's exparte filing with the FCC (May 2003), less than 5% of the 750,000 commercial buildings in the United States have current access to fiber. ThinKom believes that enabling low-cost, low-profile, high-bandwidth solutions will help close this digital divide by bringing fiber-like speeds to the other, fiber-challenged, 95%.
As with any point-to-point communications link, limited availability of roof space can be a challenge, particularly for bulky dishes and other large antennas, but the small size of ThinKom's Broadband WiFi Antenna allows mounting almost anywhere on the building - hanging off the side of a building or even out of a window is now possible. In addition, affordable links such as these, of which ThinKom's antenna plays an integral part, can conceivably be ganged together to offer increased reliability, or if fiber is already installed, such links can act as an affordable backup or supplemental broadband option to existing infrastructure.
